We’ll talk to Scott Gollwitzer of Appalachian Voices. He’ll help us debunk “Clean Coal,” and remind us of the connection to the dirtiest thing on the planet, mountaintop-removal coal mining.
Local filmmaker Rebecca Macneice will tell us about the latest on her long-term project, “Crawford, Texas,” and share some of her recent interview with Col. Ann Wright. Check out how to donate to the production of “Crawford, Texas” at her website here.
David will walk us through the darker possibilities on the economic front, and how we can gird our loins. Check out politicalgateway.com for some of the essays David refers to.
This local news and public affairs show focuses on underreported information and encourages civic activism. Tune in live 7-8 pm Monday, catch the 1 pm Tuesday rebroadcast, or stream or podcast.

Jonathan Meiburg of Shearwater is going to be stopping by the WPVM studios during “The Good, the Bad, & the Ugly” this Friday, Oct. 24, sometime between 2 and 3 pm. He’ll be playing that evening at the Grey Eagle here in Asheville (WPVM favorite and frequent guest May Family Reunion will be opening up). If you haven’t heard Rook, Shearwater’s latest full-length, you should check it out immediately (myspace and website). We’re expecting that Jonathan will bring his guitar (and perhaps banjo) into the studio, but we’ve also been told that he likes to spin records, so when he does show up, we’ll chat a bit and hand over the keys to the show. We’ll also be giving away a pair of tickets to the concert while he’s in the studio–and another pair sometime before he arrives (hint: if I were you, I’d listen to Activate! Asheville on Wednesday morning with Kim, 10-noon). Tune in!
